Update, 11 December 2004 (from Chair Evan Sumido)
2004: Ongoing Chapter Activities
Evan Sumido, Chair of EEIU Eco-Populi, reports that the Chapter Members are continuing activities for the year. Their school-based chapters are active
and their activities and projects are being supervised. In January the Chair will be sending the Chapter annual report on accomplished activities.
From: Evan Sumido, Chair EEIU Philippines
To: Nicola Barnfather, EEIU Coordinator
Dear Ms. Barnfather,
We have already received the additional brochures that you
sent for us. And right now, we can distribute a lot of copies to our
members. This coming September 14th, we will be going to have a survey
on the mountainous area where the cave which we aim to adopt is
located. So this will also be a big project for us. We have already
coordinated with the town mayor and we were given a permit to conduct
a survey.
At the end of our survey, it will be the time which we will be
starting to conduct activities in the community within the cave area.
We need to get the cooperation and involvement of the community for
the success of the project.
And on our survey and adoptation, we will also be having our
documentation. And so right now, I'll be asking how can we send
our documentation such as pictures so that it will also appear on our
site and it will be updated.
Again, we would like to thank you as well as to Prof. Otto Kinne.
More power.
Sincerely,
Evan Sumido

Dear Ms. Barnfather,
We would like to inform you that we have already received our copies
of the brochures. With that I think we could encourage more
memberships for our local chapters. And actually, we're so happy that
we were able to have contact with the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources. We have been approved to take trainings from them
so that we can conduct trainings on our own. So with that, we can
start conducting seminars in the rural areas of the country.
Again, thank you very much.
More power.
God Bless.
Sincerely yours,
Evan Sumido

To: Prof. Otto Kinne, EEIU President
Dear Prof. Otto Kinne,
I'm very happy that we have now our own chapter here in the
Philippines. Filipinos can now be a part of your organization's
objectives. Right now we are starting to regroup our clubs to become
a part of the EEIU Philippine Chapter. We have two school based clubs
and are supported by our mother organization. Our organization's name
is "ECO-POPULI". We are an environmentalist group. We have some
projects like street clean-up drives, conducting seminars for students,
and a proposal of adopting a certain area here in our area that has
caves, waterfalls and mountains.
Actually right now, we are still looking for sponsors to support
our major projects. We are still looking for more memberships. This
month of June is the school opening of all schools here in the
Philippines, so what we are doing is recruiting more students and youths as well as professionals to be a part of our organization.
Information and updates regarding the developments of our projects
will also be sent to you.
Again, on behalf of our organization, thank you very much.
More power.
Sincerely yours,
Mr. Evan C. Sumido
