Chapter in Brief:

The unique program of this EEIU Chapter is the creation and verification of models of action of eco-ethics principles in real conditions. Analysis of mitigating effects of eco-ethics principles will be carried out on mathematical models of slope ecosystems, which are typical for Kyiv and Sevastopol. This program is based on the premise that mountain and slope ecosystems (a) are typical ecosystems in Crimea as a whole and (b) therefore play a significant role in determining the economic potential/prosperity of the area.

EEIU Kyiv will carry out its goals in cooperation with EEIU Sevastopol. Protection of slope ecosystems demands a clear understanding of the close dependence of an ecosystem's state on the activities of man. EEIU Sevastopol has already begun assessing the dynamics of pollution and damage in a slope ecosystem (see Eco-Ethics Cleans Up in Sevastopol). EEIU Kyiv will use the data collected by the Sevastopol group as a basis for its modelling activities.

The Kyiv and Sevastopol groups hope that their combined efforts will draw attention, interest and resources to protection of slope and mountain ecosystems, as well as stimulate the creation of additional eco-ethics action groups.
