EEIU Chapter Chortkiv "EGO Green World" 2002 Report
Chair Alexander Stepanenko reports that the EGO Green World Chapter's main project for 2002 was "Eco-Media". As a part of these activities, the EGO has published a periodical entitled "Ecobulletin: Human, Society, Nature", which focuses on ecological, cultural and human rights problems.
As well, two new organisations were formed within the Chapter during 2002: "Medical Eco-Initiative" and the Youth Eco-Club "Kovcheg", both of which address ethical problems in their work. The Eco-Club is now conducting an informational campaign "Arbor vitae", to promote awareness of the aesthetical role of trees. Our young colleagues also arranged a photo and graphics exhibition "Famous Ukrainian Trees", and prepared a list of the trees which should hold a special stage for defence. In addition, the members organised a talk about Gregory Skovoroda, an 18th century Ukrainian philosopher.
Members of "Kovcheg" (generally pupils and students) are ready to join the EEIU as a local Youth Group. We look forward to cooperating with such an active and enthusiastic group on the behalf of eco-ethics!

EEIU Chapter Chortkiv "EGO Green World" Activities Report
"Ecological — Humanitarian Association Green World" (EGO Green World) is a non-commercial public organization, that was founded in Chortkiv, Ternopil region (Ukraine) in 1997. The main aims of EGO Green World are: "preservation and reproduction of the natural environment, as a necessary requirement of fully-fledged human life, widening the ideas of humanism and principles of the ecological way of thinking, backing up initiatives aimed at the formation of social models of openness, democracy and sustainable development.
Among the basic tasks in the activities of the "EGO Green World", we also work towards the distribution of ecological information; enlightenment and education with respect to Nature. The organization's collective members also form the students' eco-club, "The Snowdrop". The correspondents post the bulletin : "Human Rights", and "The Doctors eco-initiative". The partners of "EGO Green World" include: the speleotourists' club "Kristal"(Chortkiv), Information Center "UEA Green World" (Kiev), and "Kharkiv Human-Rights Protecting Group". EGO Green World is a member of NGO coalitions "Ukrainian River Network" and "For power safety", and Eco-Ethics International Union.
Our new projects and actions:
- publication of the personal "Eco-bulletin: Human, Society, Nature"
- initiative of the formation the regional landscape park on the River Seret (the left Dnister's part)
- encouragement actions in the children's collectives (exhibition "Keep our Earth green", springs holidays "Arbor days", walking tours learning the principles "don't leave dirty traces after yourself".
Finally, we have scanned photos with our last year children celebrations:
art exhibition 'Let us save the green Earth!' and 'Days of Trees' (see below).
We produced some short info on the Eco-Ethics International Union in the January issue of 'Ecobulletin' and we had also given the draft of the text 'Chart of Earth'.
