The Italian Ancona II Chapter of the Eco-Ethics International Union (EEIU) was born in June 2003. Since the beginning members of the Chapter were mainly involved in national and international research projects focusing on the reduction of fishing mortality, fishing selectivity, and the conservation of fish stocks and habitats. Additionally, members have undertaken actions to overcome ethical problems that occurred during the research activities.
Particular attention was dedicated to the latest ethical aspects in relation to fishing, aquaculture, and the processing and marketing of fishery products. More efforts will be made in anticipating how these eco-ethical concepts might influence socially and economically all the above mentioned sectors in the near future.
The Ancona II Chapter intends to discuss possible ethical measures of collective interest and connections with other Chapters.
