EEIU Bombay — 2004 Activities

EEIU Bombay reports that three New Life Members of NEEF (www.neefin.org) were added in 2004, bringing the total number of Life Members to 70. All Life Members have been offered free Life Membership of the EEIU Bombay Chapter.

Dr. Sharma, Chair of the Chapter authored a book Handbook of Environment (2004; Bookwell Publishers:Delhi) and a paper 'State of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in India' (International Journal of LCA, Vol. 9, No. 1, 2004).

Dr. Sharma was appointed a Member of the International Life Cycle Panel, a decision making authority of UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative; as Member of the International Advisory Board for the Sixth International Conference on EcoBalance; and as Member of the Organising Committee for the Fourth AIST Workshop on LCA, which is sponsored by the Society of Non-Traditional Technology; the National Institute for Agro-Environmental Sciences; Japan's Environmental Management Association for Industry; LCA Society, Japan; and the Center for Environmental Information Services, Tsukuba, Japan.

In addition, Dr. Sharma initiated the 'State of Environment Report — Maharashtra', for the MoEF, Govt. of India, MPCB and GoM, 2004, and the 'Maharashtra State Development Report' for the Planning Commission, Government of India, to be prepared by IGIDR, GIPE, TISS and JBIMS, 2004.

In April Dr. Sharma participated in the International Life Cycle Panel (ILCP) meeting organised by the UNEP under UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative Programme and the SETAC EUROPE 14th Meeting and visited the Czech Environmental Institute in Prague. He will be participating in the 4th AIST Workshop and 56th International Conference EcoBalance and International Symposium on LCA, sponsored by AIST, APEC, UNEP/SETAC, Research Center for LCA, AIST, Tsukuba, Oct..25-28, 2004.
